Selah: Bible Compass is designed to respect your privacy and minimize data collection. This policy explains what information is stored, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Selah: Bible Compass is owned and operated by Horizon Solutions LLC (“we,” “our” or “the Company”). This Privacy Policy applies to Selah: Bible Compass and governs your use of the app on both iOS and Android devices.
1. No Personal Information Collected
Selah does not collect or require:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Login accounts
- Contact information
- Any personally identifying data
You cannot be identified through the app.
Selah does not collect, store, sell, or share personal data with third parties. Any limited data processed by the app (such as anonymous analytics or AI requests) is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you.
2. What Data Selah Stores Locally
All of the following remain on your device only, unless you have device backup enabled through your platform settings (see Section 4):
- Test responses
- Full results and reflections
- Notes
- Devotion progress
- Streaks
- Any personalized insights generated by the app
Selah does not transmit this personal data to any server, developer, or third party, except: (a) when you explicitly request AI-generated content (see Section 7); and (b) if you turn on iCloud Sync, to keep it in sync across your own devices through your private Apple iCloud account (see Section 3C). Selah’s developers cannot access data stored in your private iCloud.
3. Cloud Services (Limited & Non-Personal Data Only)
Selah may use platform-specific cloud services to support app functionality. These services are used in a limited and privacy-preserving way.
A. Community Statistics (Anonymous, Non-Identifiable)
To encourage growth and engagement, Selah may share only the following data:
- Test name
- Score (percentage only)
No device information, identity, account info, or personal data is transmitted. Scores cannot be tied back to any individual user.
B. Shared Theology Studies (Content Only, Not User Data)
Selah may use cloud services to store and deliver:
- AI-generated theology studies
This ensures all users have access to shared content without duplicating large files on every device. No personal information is uploaded or linked to these documents.
Note: On iOS, this functionality may use Apple CloudKit. On Android, equivalent secure cloud infrastructure may be used.
Data shared through cloud services is anonymous, not linked to any user identity, and is not used for advertising or tracking purposes.
C. iCloud Sync of Your Personal Content (Private to You)
If you turn on iCloud Sync (Settings → iCloud Sync; on by default on iOS), Selah uses Apple CloudKit to keep your personal content in sync across the devices signed into your Apple ID. This includes:
- Journal entries
- My Prayers
- Assessment (test) results
This content is stored in your private iCloud database, controlled by your Apple ID and encrypted and handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Selah’s developers cannot access, read, share, or sell it, and it is never used for advertising, profiling, or tracking. You can turn iCloud Sync off at any time in Settings → iCloud Sync, after which your data remains on your device.
4. Device Backup (Optional via System Settings)
If you have device backup enabled, your operating system may back up Selah’s local data.
iOS (Apple Devices)
If iCloud Backup is enabled:
- Data may be backed up to iCloud
- Encrypted and controlled by Apple
- Not accessible to Selah developers
Android (Google Devices)
If backup is enabled on your device:
- Data may be backed up via Google’s backup services
- Encrypted and controlled by Google
- Not accessible to Selah developers
You can disable backups at any time through your device settings.
5. Limited Analytics (Feature Usage Only)
Selah uses Firebase Analytics to measure feature usage and screen views only.
The data collected is limited to:
- App interactions (e.g., feature usage, screen views)
- General device-level information (such as app version or device type, as provided by Firebase)
We do not collect:
- Personal information
- Test answers or scores
- Notes or journal content
- Verse references or prayer content
- Any AI-generated text
Analytics data:
- Is not linked to your identity
- Is not used to track you across apps or services
- Is not sold or shared with third parties
Analytics is used solely to understand which features are being used and to improve the app experience.
6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Selah offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions through platform providers.
iOS
- Payments are processed by Apple
- Selah does not access your payment method or billing details
Android
- Payments are processed by Google Play
- Selah does not access your payment method or billing details
Subscription status may be used to enable enhanced AI features.
7. AI Requests & Data Handling
When you request AI-generated reflections or studies, Selah sends:
- Relevant assessment summaries or prompts
- Optional personalization (if you provided it)
- Your selected language and style preferences
This data is sent only to generate your response.
Selah does not store prompts or AI responses on a server. AI results are stored locally on your device.
AI request data is transmitted securely for processing and is not used for tracking, advertising, or profiling. It is not linked to your identity and is not shared or sold.
8. Data Deletion
You may delete your data at any time:
Local Data
Deleting the Selah app removes all personal data stored on the device.
Anonymous Community Data
Community statistics are anonymous and cannot be tied back to your device or identity.
Backups
You may delete backups through your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage
- Android: Settings → System → Backup
8A. Data Security
Selah takes reasonable measures to protect data during transmission.
- Data sent for analytics or AI processing is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption
- No personal data is stored on Selah servers
- All personal content remains on your device unless processed temporarily for AI responses
We do not store or retain transmitted data beyond what is necessary to fulfill the requested feature.
9. Children’s Privacy
Selah does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Data used for community statistics contains no identifying information.
